Tyatyora Hard Catch claims victory at the 36th Annual Ngumbela Cricket Tournament

The Ngumbela Cricket Tournament, an annual spectacle at Ngumbela Park in Healdtown, delivered thrilling action on the 5th January 2025. In a gripping final, Tyatyora Hard Catch dethroned the 2024 champions, Township United Brothers (TUB), with a commanding performance, scoring 160/6 in just 36 overs. This victory marked a significant achievement for Tyatyora Hard Catch, showcasing their skill and determination on the field.

The tournament, a tribute to the late Advocate Mthetheleli Ngumbela, has been a cornerstone of community development since its inception in 1989. It continues to inspire and uplift rural cricket, thanks to the unwavering support of the Ngumbela family and sponsors. The Department proudly endorses this event, recognising its impact on promoting sports development in rural areas.

In addition to the thrilling final, accolades were awarded to Lamyeni Hard Catch for securing 4th place, Seshegu Brothers for taking 3rd place, and Township United Brothers (TUB) for their 2nd place finish.
