The Amacal’egusha Cricket Board, formerly known as the Border Cricket Village Board, concluded one of its annual tournaments on the 4th January 2025, at the Amacal’egusha Cricket Oval in Masingatha, Qonce.
The Interboards Tournament is held annually from the 2nd January and spans for a period of three days, featuring games played by 11 cricket unions from the Middledrift, East London, Qonce, and Peddie areas. This year, the final match was between the Amagasela Cricket Club and the Vukani Club. Despite challenging weather conditions, including rain and lightning disruptions, Vukani emerged victorious, claiming the 2025 championship title and defeating last year’s champions, Amagasela.
The Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, the late Mr. Ngumbela, and Border Cricket have been proud sponsors of the tournament, ensuring its annual occurrence. The department supports the tournament by providing transportation for the teams, catering throughout the event, and contributing to the prize winnings. This support enables the board to host a successful tournament and promotes widespread participation in cricket within the region.
